Update Afghan Family

Dear brothers and sisters,

My extraction contact has received a green light with everything in place! This by itself is miraculous as I’ve been told that this usually takes weeks or even months. We have a connection in place in the passport office which can provide swift passports, following with the visas for Pakistan.

Why the urgency?

Besides the constant threat of being a christian in Afghanistan, ’name hidden’ father, a devout muslim, is ready to re-marry his daughter, which would be a muslim. Her father would receive a dowry, which is an incentive for him to marry her off.

Once that happens, it would understandably complicate and worsen the situation. If she would profess her faith in her own home, she would risk beatings or being handed over to the Taliban which would lead to her death.

So where are we at now?

I told ’name hidden’ things are moving and we are taking all the steps necessary to move her out of the country and into Pakistan, where we can start the refugee immigration process for Canada. Arranging a safe place for her Pakistan is a whole other challenge I’ve started working on.

At the moment ’name hidden’ is still mourning and struggling, but she has hope and knows that there are people on the other side of the world thinking about her, praying for her and helping her finding a way out. Here’s a photo update:

What’s the next step?

I had to send the first chunk quickly so we could start processing the passports. That amount was $6000 USD. So far the donations have added up to $3065 USD ($4160 CAD). So in total we are still short $11,935 USD, meaning $16,200 CAD. If you haven’t, please consider making a donation.

Also, if anyone knows anyone who can get this more exposure, please let me know! I’m hoping to set up a online fundraiser tomorrow and see if that will bear any fruit.
